Sumy State University
The SSU Law School dates back to 1997 when the Section of Law was created as part of the Department of Political Science, Sociology, and Law. At the same time, the first set of students was carried out.

Department of International, European, and Comparative Law
In 2005, the Department of Law was established, which later grew into the Faculty of Law. In 2016, the Academic and Research Institute of Law of Sumy State University was created by merging the law faculties of Sumy State University and the Ukrainian Academy of Banking.
Currently, the faculty has five departments and more than 40 teachers who train bachelors of law and international law, masters of law, and doctors of philosophy in law.

This department is a UACES group member through our collaboration with USAID Justice for All Activity.
The USAID Justice for All Activity (J4A) in collaboration with the University Association for Contemporary European Studies is supporting Ukrainian law schools in their efforts to improve the teaching of EU law to help raise new generations of Ukrainian legal professionals with solid understanding of and skills to apply EU law to advance Ukraine’s integration into the EU. To this end, J4A supports Ukrainian law schools in building bridges with foreign law schools with expertise in EU law for international experience exchange and collaboration. J4A also facilitates the development of a network/community of practice composed of Ukrainian instructors of EU law and seeks to create learning and development opportunities for Ukrainian law schools and their faculty and channel them through such a network/community of practice for greater engagement, closer people-to-people contacts, and continuous improvement.
