Chernivtsi National University has a deep history. In 1875, the Franz Joseph Imperial University was opened in Chernivtsi with three faculties: law, philosophy and theology. Famous scientists-thinkers Eugene Ehrlich, Hans Gross and Joseph Schumpeter worked at the faculty at the turn of the 19-20th centuries. The Faculty of Law of the Yuri Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University was revived on May 1, 1991.
The department employs 3 doctors of science and 4 candidates of science in international law. The department prepares bachelor's and master's degrees in international law, prepares students for participation in international competitions, summer schools, and study exchanges. There is a Learning Laboratory of European Law and a Сircle of international law. The department has established effective interaction with law schools.
