Network of EU-Africa Research
About
A UACES Research Network since 2020.
EU-Africa relations are a foundational pillar of the European project. The relationship requires urgent collaborative analysis as it undergoes radical transformation in relation to Brexit, the creation of the post-Cotonou trade and development treaty, and the ambition for a bi-continental Africa-Europe free trade area.
From 2020-2023 UACES Research Networks were supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
NEAR brings together researchers, policy-makers and third sector representatives to work collaboratively on a global scale to examine these emerging challenges and opportunities within EU-Africa relations, and to inform the future direction of the partnership. It consciously fosters genuine and close collaboration between African and European researchers in this endeavour.
Our key aims are:
1. To facilitate genuine and close collaboration between African and European researchers in the study of EU-Africa relations.
2. To examine the consequences of the challenges and rapid transformation of EU-Africa relations for European and African states and societies, as well as for the EU and African regional organisations.
